Why Summit Registry Results Are Incomplete
CBI expressly says the public web registry excludes people whose only qualifying conviction is a misdemeanor sex offense and people whose duty arose only from a juvenile adjudication. Those registrations or local records may still exist. A spelling difference, changed address, delayed update, out-of-state record, or search filter can also affect the displayed result.

Use that source when the public map's limits matter. A no-result response means no matching public profile appeared under those criteria, not that no registration record exists.
What a Summit Registry Profile Shows
A public profile combines identity descriptors with the registered location and qualifying offense. Fields vary by record and public schema. Victim identity is never a public profile field, and a profile should not be copied into a private database or used as a substitute for the official live record.

National Search Beyond Summit County
The National Sex Offender Public Website combines public data from participating state, territorial, and tribal jurisdictions. Colorado Registration Categories and Duration
Colorado does not publish one simple Tier I, II, and III scheme matching federal SORNA labels. Registration and public visibility depend on the conviction, statute, court designation, and category. Exact duration must be checked against C.R.S. section 16-22-113 and the specific case. Do not infer it from a generic tier chart.

Complete Summit Registry List Requests
When the public website is insufficient, CBI directs citizens to an Adult Registered Sex Offender Request Form for a complete adult list or stated local area. Mail the form with the required current fee. CBI does not accept this adult-list form by fax or email, and provides English and Spanish versions. Since legislation effective September 1, 2021, the adult list includes adults convicted of felony or misdemeanor sex offenses and excludes juvenile-only registrations.
A named juvenile record uses a separate written gate. The requester supplies the full name, plus identifiers such as date of birth, county of adjudication, docket number, and gender when known, and states the need. CBI says there is no search fee. Any release is limited to specified registration data and excludes victim information.
Lawful Summit Registry Use
Registry access supports community awareness and personal or family safety planning. It does not prove current danger, and it is not intended as added punishment. Confirm a profile's date and status, respect the limits of public publication, and report suspected noncompliance to the responsible police agency or Sheriff. Use 911 only for an emergency.
Misuse is a crime: C.R.S. section 18-9-310.5 can punish harassment, intimidation, coercion, serious emotional distress, prohibited dissemination, or false statements used to obtain protected information. The cited fine can reach $1,000 per violation.
Colorado also does not support a blanket claim that every registrant is barred the same fixed distance from every school or park. Local land-use rules and individualized supervision terms are not the same as statewide registry law.

Summit Registry and State Supervision
Registration, probation, parole, and custody are separate statuses. A person can have a registration duty without current custody, and a registry profile does not reveal private supervision notes. Court records show a probation sentence, while the Colorado Department of Corrections can show custody or supervision for people in its system.
